Wednesday Trends with Jenny

Hi all! Jenny here. Wow- I am so nervous to be typing up my very first post on the TSG blog!!! Eeek! I hope I don't crash the system.....no, seriously. I am really crossing my fingers here! Computer saavy I am not, but luckily for you, crafty I am!
So, my Wednesday trend is actually more of a 'tip' or 'trick'. I am a huge hoarder collector of dies. I don't honestly think I could make a card without using my Bigshot and cutting something out (hey, maybe that should be a future challenge;)...I think I find it cathartic or something! I NEED to CUT! And, like most of you, I like to get more bang for my buck. So, I am always trying to discover fun new ways in which to use my collection. Since TSG has recently come out with a few WONDERFUL dies, I thought it would be fun to show you a different way to use one of these fabulous dies!
World's Best Die was designed to be a companion die to the World's Best stamp set, but what if you don't own that set? Does that mean that World's Best Die is not in the cards for you?? NOOOOOO, it absolutely does NOT! I have made a sweet little card today, showing you that you can find different uses for dies that are typically *made* to go with a specific set! More bang people. More bang.

I made a clean-ish card, using images from the set My Little Friend. The grass was made using the flag banner from World's Best die. I created various heights in 'blades' by just trimming the overhang at the bottom. The sun was made using the flower shaped portion of the die, and the rays were cut from the looped, ribbon looking banner die. I then stitched around the edge of the card to anchor the grass and add definition to the sun. The sentiment was stamped on a CS cloud. I then added my images, planting them in the blades of grass, bending the grass strips at the ends for a little pop! Cute, no?

Well, I hope that you enjoyed my card and are die-ing to try this tip;) You really don't always have to stick to using paper crafting supplies for exactly what they are meant for! I think stretching your creativity as a designer is better than following the rules! I hope that I have lent a little inspiration to you today and you will try to find new and different uses for your dies:)

Thanks for joining me!
Jenny
